Sep 23, 2012· Just wondering and maybe this flew over my head but why do most handguard makers use 6061 T6 aluminum instead of 7075 T6? Makers like DD, Centurion Arms, etc. I know most manufacturers of lowers (forged and billet) as well as upper receivers are made of 7075 aluminum. So why wouldn't they use 7075 for handguards?
